The 34th International Kurdish Culture Festival, which will bring together Kurds and their friends from across Europe, will be held in Dortmund on 5 September under the slogan “Democratic Society with a Free Leadership.” The festival will celebrate Kurdish language, culture, art and folklore while emphasizing the determination to build a democratic and free future.
The Confederation of Democratic Societies of Kurdistan (KON-MED) issued a written statement calling for participation in the festival and announcing the bus routes and departure times.
The statement reads as follows:
“The 34th International Kurdish Culture Festival, one of the largest gatherings of the Kurdish people in Europe, will take place in Dortmund on 5 September 2026. As the Kurdish people, we will once again come together in a strong way around our history, culture, language, art and determination for freedom.
This year, our festival will be held under the slogan ‘Democratic Society with a Free Leadership.’ Today, for the Kurdish people, preserving our culture and defending our language, art and history means not only protecting the past, but also demonstrating our determination to build a free and democratic future. As Kurds living across Europe, while preserving our identity and culture, we are also expanding the struggle for a democratic, free and peaceful society.
The festival to be held in Dortmund on 5 September will be a powerful expression of this determination. At our festival, where tens of thousands of people will come together, we will celebrate the richness of our culture through Kurdish music, folklore, literature and art. Together with our women, young people, children and all sections of our society, we will hold a great cultural gathering. This festival is a meeting point for our defence of our identity and our determination to build a democratic future.
For this reason, we invite all our people living across Europe, our friends and the democratic public to Dortmund on 5 September.
Every family, every young person, every woman and every child should take their place at this great gathering together with people from their own communities. Come, let us meet in Dortmund with our language, our culture, our art and our determination for freedom. Come, let us together strengthen the Kurdish people's determination for a democratic society and a free future.
